Accessible Parking on Campus

There are designated accessible metered parking spaces throughout Yale’s campus on New Haven streets. These are first-come, first-serve and do require use of the meter by Connecticut State Law. Accessible parking tags and license plates from other U.S. states are honored in the city.

If an accessible parking space in a Yale-owned parking lot is needed, please contact SAS.

Campus Transportation Services

There is a fixed shuttle route and Accessible Transit vans that service the Yale community. Both are managed and operated by Yale’s Parking and Transit Department.

Accessible Transit

Yale Transit provides accessible transit transportation to members of the Yale community who are permanently or temporarily disabled. Once on campus, this service provides a secondary option for transporting individuals from one campus location to another for academic and co-curricular purposes. This service provides transportation within the geographic region of the Yale Shuttle service routes.

The Accessible Transit Van operates Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 pm. Accessible transit rides are not available on the following holidays and/or designated university holiday: New Year’s Day, ML King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.

Please note that all approved users of Accessible Transit services must download and register on the new Downtowner app. Download the app for Android and iOS devices.

Approved riders may schedule the van service through the app or by calling 203-281-5470 – Press 1 for self-booking. Even when calling to dispatch, students must have created an account through the app before rides can be scheduled.
